Product Description
Intended for ages 6+, each Avatar Creature/Vehicle interacts with most 3 ¾â?- 4 ¼â? figures, and is accompanied by a character-specific i-tag. The Thanator features multi-jointed limbs and articulated jaws. Known by the Naâ?TMvi as Palulukan or â??Dry Mouth Bringer of Fearâ?, the rainforest-indigenous Thanator measures 2.5 meters tall and 5.5 meters in length, and is outfitted with natural armor plating, cranially-situated quills, and a distensible armored jaw filled with razor-sharp 23-centimeter teeth. A ravenous six-legged apex predator considered to be the most fearsome of Pandoraâ??s land-based creatures, the Thanator prefers nocturnal hunting and instills profound dread in even the sturdiest Naâ?TMvi warriors.

Summary: Thanator: Nothing to it 2010-07-06
Comment: I recieved the Thanator and was pleased on how beautiful the detail was. I had NO problem attaching the ligaments and they snapped with ease, it literally took me 5 minutes to put it together. (leave it in the car during the hot, summer weather for a couple of hours and it should be easy to assemble)
This model could've been better if the hindlegs, tail, pads(on head) would articulate and if the mouth had a wider range of opening and closing. Overall a GREAT model and it is displayed near my window :)

Summary: Movie accurate, but not flawless 2010-06-14
Comment: I just saw Avatar a few weeks ago, and after the chase scene with this thing and Jake (first 25 minutes or so of the movie) the Thanator immediately became my favorite creature of the movie apart from the mountain banshees and the Leop..whats its face. But one thing that made the Thanator my favorite apart from every other creature was how violent it was. Once this thing started it didn't stop. So this is what drove me into buying it.

Now the figure itself, while looking like it popped right out of the movie, it did have some flaws I found were worth mentioning. First, as you will know, the figure is unassembled so your task is to put it together. It comes in 10 pieces; torso, head, neck, tail, and 6 legs. The head, neck, & torse seemed to go together smoothly, the tail requires a little pressure to snap on completely so that I didn't mind. A very minor flaw I had was while it could open, the jaw barely extends, but this is very minor. The biggest issue I had with the assembly of this figure was the legs. Now granted I've put together many things in my collection so I thought this would be cake. Boy was I wrong. I don't know about everyone else who owns this, but it seemed like no matter how much pressure I applied to this the legs would not snap in. So after several failed attempts to get these legs in, I finally decided to glue them on, which kills the articulated points but it saved me frustration. Despite all of this it does look great when it is assembled. Though I wouldn't treat this piece as a play toy nor would I recommend this for a 5 year old who is natually violent when it comes to play time. This is more of a collector's piece rather than something that can be thrown around the house.

Overall 4/5. Assembly is a challenge but looks great when it's all together.

Comment: Bought this for my son's b-day in May. Very realistic looking. My son really liked it. I was thrilled to find this on-line since the movie came out on dvd and all the stores had previously put all avatar toys on clearance and were not getting any more in. Thank goodness for Amazon!
Summary: Really nice 2010-03-20
Comment: My favourite figure of the Avatar creature line. Very detailed and realistic, extreme poseable. Each leg has three movable joints - shoulder, knee and paw. The hindpaws lack the paw and knee joints though which would have been a good addition, but I do like the two movable middle claws on the two front forelegs. The neck and head can be moved, and the jaw opens - but not very far, and I expected the drawn-backs lips seen in the movie to have been added which were not. The tail also could have been made movable easily enough, but it's still a very good figure. The only other suggestion I had would have been to make it slightly larger, as it's roughly comparable to the direhorse figure. The i-tag meant little to me as I do not own a webcam.
Summary: Great Toy 2010-02-13
Comment: I would say this is an ideal Avatar model, as it is very well detailed and articulated. I wish the jaws would open wider, and the head could move more easily. The tail (on mine at least) was extremely hard to get on, not to mention the head and haunches. I love the one I have, and recommend it to Avatar fans.
