While the toy didn't look like much at first, it turned out to be a perfect choice for my young son. The jet features a trigger on the tale that allows a child to spin the wings and cockpit of the jet in a complete 360 degree turn. It also features retractable landing gear that's chunky enough for little hands to easily push them in and out for quick landings and take-offs. The cockpit opens up and allows children to snugly put the pilot with or without his helmet inside. The cockpit shuts tightly and we have yet to experience any unexpected "ejections" of the pilot while the jet is "in flight" or "dogfighting" with other jets. There are two chainsaw blades tucked under the wings that can be flipped in or out while the child is playing as well. Extracting the jet, pilot and his helmet from the packaging was...Read more 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: By eightstringer (Arkansas) - See all my reviews = Durability: This review is from: Fisher-Price Imaginext Sky Racers Twister Jet (Toy) Bought this for my 23 month old son. He loves it....neither he nor my 3 1/2 year old are able to squeeze the trigger at the tail of the airplane to make it twist yet. But that doesn't bother them, they just like me to do that part once in awhile.
The frustrating thing is, hard as I try, I cannot get the man to fit in the airplane and close the top if he's wearing his helmet. Maybe it's just ours, but the top cannot lie flat if he has his helmet on. Not to mention, the man falls out when I push the trigger, (spinning the airplane) because even without his helmet, the top doesn't close securely or latch. Thankfully, I've convinced my son this is *funny* that the man falls out, and not something to be frustrated about, but I don't know how long that will last! There are a few features I really like on this airplane--the weapons that can fold out, the wheels that can fold down underneath the airplane, and that there are no batteries required. First two...Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By = Durability: This review is from: Fisher-Price Imaginext Sky Racers Twister Jet (Toy) My 4yo received this for his birthday. It has gotten almost daily play in our home over the past three months. We have not had problems closing the cockpit (as another reviewer mentioned) and except for a little paint rubbing off, it is showing no signs of damage or wear. My 2yo also enjoys zooming around, altho' his hands are not strong enough to squeeze the lever that makes the airplane spin. We have had other play airplanes but those have cracked or broken when dropped (which happens at this age). This was a great buy and seems like more expensive gift than $10. We like it so much, we are going to get the Tiger airplane for our 2yo so the boys can play together. |
