G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra R.H.I.N.O. Vehicle

This R.H.I.N.O. is actually a movie re-release of a previous toy. Of course there's new movie tie-in packaging, but also the included figure has changed and the colors of the vehicle are now mostly blue-gray with green missiles (as opposed to the black body with yellow missiles of previous version). Beyond that it is an awesome toy, my son was still discovering features on this a year later.

The major feature is the detachable helicoptor that deploys. With the push of a button on the rear of the wheeled-vehicle the helicoptor with rise up and out on a spring-loaded platform. Once up the small wings fold down, but the helicoptor rotor/blade must be manually pulled up and deployed. There are three included missile pods that can be attached to either vehicle. I can honestly say that ever since the GI JOE craze in the 80's, I have loved them ever since. It was very hard for me to give 3 stars as a result. I was anxious about this purchase, mostly because of the promising features it advertised. The pictures make this out to be better than what it actually is.

First of all, I was happy to find that there is only minimal assembly required. The missle launchers are all interchangeable, which is great. However, the 2 primary 3-missle launchers that are included are "not" spring loaded. They do not "fire" at all. You have to manually "pretend" that they fire. Normally this would be ok, but not for the price. Only the single-missle launcher actually fires. The helicopter feature is pretty cool. It can be a pain to attach and re-attach, but that can be expected. I just picked this up on clearance at a umm "bullseye" store for half of regular retail. I have eyed this product for a while as my son and I have adopted the GI Joe figures and vehicles with the release of the movie.

I would say that this ranks 2ND place in our large collection and only follow the $100 PIT headquarters. It is durable has a ton of compartments and the combo helicopter/ground vehicle simply make it unique.

I would say that the only drawback for me is that the ground vehicle is so "batmobile dark nightish" (not nec. a bad thing...but just a little off part)

We have the whole living room set up for war and I feel like a cape masked man is hanging out waiting for the prime opportunity to take down cobra commander.

Other than that....my son and I love it and still rank it 4 out 5 stars. For the price this blows the other GI Joe vehicles out of the water.
