Summary: Great! 2010-07-13
Comment: The packaging was bad and not durable but that really did matter to me. Other than that GREAT! The toy was not damaged just the packaging.
Summary: Crazy glue needed for this toy. Not worth the $ 2010-06-04
Comment: Bought this figure and the wrist broke within a half-hour. You guessed it, the other wrist broke right after that. One movement and bingo it broke. Now I know why the stores aren't selling this item. DON'T BUY IT UNLESS YOU KEEP IN THE PACKAGE.
Summary: Save your money, or just leave it in the box! 2010-05-02
Comment: In celebration of the ODST, McFarlane releases the ODST line which includes, the Rookie and DARE. However the Rookie got the short end of the stick. Paint applications are rather sloppy, if you go through the variants, you'll notice that the colors sometimes aren't the same, mostly because McFarlane hand paints and assembles their figures. These can easily be forgiven until you open the package.
In many cases out of package the Rookie falls apart on contact, his arms are rotated at the upper portion of his bicep which causes the socket joints to pop out due to poor sizing. This will completely ruin the poseability of the figure for good. Shoulder armor bits also tend to pop out due to poor sizing as well. Anything you try to move or angle his shoulders or arms, expect to see the toy start to dislocate itself easily.
Also, much like many of the figures, the weapons don't fit onto the hands very well which can cause stress fractures not only on the weapons, but on the figures hands as well.
If you do buy this figure, keep it in the box, do NOT take it out nor touch the figure at all. You'll save yourself the hassle of feeling stupid later on for buying it.
Summary: Hot toy-but broken on arrival 2010-04-29
Comment: Halo is at the top of my grandson's list. He was very thrilled about the Rookie I ordered for him. Too bad it's arm was broken when it arrived. When I contacted Amazon I was informed I could receive a refund but not another Rookie. Needless to say someone came out on this-selling a broken toy-because the grandson wanted to keep it. He now has a bandaged Rookie in his Halo force!!!
Summary: Defects corrected 2010-04-23
Comment: Defects have been corrected, so the left hand no longer falls off. Shoulder pauldrons still do though, but these can easily be stuck back on. Paint is still greenish gray, though the color varies depending on lighting. The light gray stripe on the helmet has been added, the visor has been darkened, and the chestplate is painted light gray. Playability is still limited by the mold, and it lacks holes in the right leg and backpack so additional weapons cannot be stowed.
Since the durability of the figures has gone down, be gentle with them. Twist things slowly. And don't throw them around.
