Summary: Tacky and not well made for $30 2009-05-19
Comment: This product is quite tacky. The "Kirk" figurine does not look that much like Kirk to begin with. More importantly, the chair is not that well made. There are sizeable fissures in the chair through which the lights underneath are visible. For $30 bucks the edges should be sealed to prevent this light leakage.
On the positive side, it has some decent sound effects and many maxims that William Shatner made famous on the show (i.e., "take us to warp Mr. Sulu", etc.). These sound effects are defintely not digital/cd quality but instead sound like they are coming from a fairly small low end speaker with little dynamic range. Exactly as would be expected from a $20 - $30 toy.
