Summary: The Review to Guarantee My Entrance Into Geekdom 2006-09-25
Comment: Okay, I admit it, I am a nerd. Okay I said it...what a relief...I'm glad I got this off my chest now I don't have to keep living a lie. I have been entranced by Star Wars since I first saw it in 1977. I wasn't even in my teens yet. After the movie I just sat there in my seat completely mesmerized. My dad stood up, "C'mon, Johnny...let's go..." I just kept looking into space, "Dad, my life is never going to be the same...ever..."
Yoda is my favorite character. Always has been. Always will be. Even when I first saw him in the Empire Strikes back, I knew on a subconscious level of things, that he exuded everything that I wanted to be: wise, compassionate, insightful, childlike, and very, very strong...not physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually...he was alligned to Something greater than he and let it flow through him.
We geeks like to call this 'the Force' but you can call it Energy, Universal Intelligence, or maybe even God...
I consider myself a very spiritual being. I meditate, I pray, I immerse myself in Spiritual books, tapes, and movies and my Spirituality has seeped its way into every aspect of my life. I am not a closet believer. I do believe in a Divine Intelligence that binds and holds everything together, just like Obi Wan said in the 1977 movie that started it all. And even though I believe that all of us are Spiritual Beings and are basically masters trapped in neophyte bodies, there have been some that have allowed this Power to move through them, as them.
Think Jesus, Buddah, Krishna, Yoda...yes, Yoda...and because I believe that Yoda is an ascended master he is on my altar along with other deities that encompass the things I joyfully strive to bring forth.
This is a great representation and belongs on every serious Star Wars fanatics shelf. It's not some cheap little model or some plastic, goofy representation. It's very authentic looking and embodies Yoda's wisdom and his heart. I do not consider it "an idol" or a "graven image"...my old religious training coming out...I see it as a gentle reminder to practice those things that add rather than take away from the human experience.
Well, I'm gonna go now and play with my Yoda...I mean, I'm going to meditate and reflect on the Inner power within me...
