Summary: A nod to the G1 Dirge 2010-03-18
Comment: Don't really remember much of Dirge from the cartoon series and I never saw the G1 toy, but I know he was one of the Seekers and a 'Conehead' too, so when I saw him in the stores, I pounced on him to complete my Seekers collection.
In jet mode, he's an amazing model of the Harrier Cyclone, with some changes (twin tails instead of single, etc) but the overall render is superbly done. Retractable landing gears, firing projectiles and very little kibble or robot parts visible in jet mode all add to the fun.
Converting him to robot mode is slightly tricky, but not too difficult. And that mode is even better for old-time fans. Some of the little odes to the original character just make you smile - his cone head, air-intakes at the shoulders, cockpit canopy & wheels on his chest - very reminiscent of the classics Starscream or Ramjet.
The only slighy disappointment in the robot mode is that he's slightly shorter than what I'd expected him to be. He's about the same size as ROTF Breakaway/Thrust, so that's about 1-2" shorter than classics Starscream.
All in all, still a great toy and one of the really cool new Decepticon jets.
