Product Description
Because he is slightly less hyperactive than his brother MUDFLAP, AUTOBOT SKIDS has always thought of himself as the smart one. He likes to point this out at every opportunity. While MUDFLAP zips around like a maniac, AUTOBOT SKIDS prefers to impress his superiors among the AUTOBOT high command by behaving in a way he thinks of as mature, which usually involves talking nonstop about anything that occurs to him.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun surprise, June 18, 2009

I wasn't interested in the characters of Skids and Muddflap at first. I watched a review on both these toys online, and they seemed to have enough poseability and interesting transformations to pick up. The vehicle mode looks very nice. It's a very nice painted green, while inner robot mode seems to be green plastic. Even that looks nice. Transforming him can be a little weird at first figuring out the right place to put everything. One thing I am noticing that Hasbro is doing more of is giving these figures tabs to help with placing all the parts correctily. Just know that you have to seperate the roof to fold the backpack correctly. It seems like it will break, but it's solid. He can stand fairly well with the help of the folded car sides that make his bottom legs. Robot mode looks like a good mold. I like that they even painted his buck teeth. The enlarged, articulated punching hand is kind of cool. I haven't noticed anything that would seem too fragile, so I think...Read more

I'll start off by saying that I love Skids and Mudflap! I don't care what people say about "racism" or stereotypes, because they're green and orange alien robots. With that out of the way, Skids is one of the best looking Transformers toys I own! He represents his movie self perfectly down to the last detail (minus the kibble on his back, which makes the top of his vehicle mode). He has the colors, a gold tooth, his enlarged right hand, big ears, a little tuft of black hair, and even an autobot symbol on his crotch! When you press the cannon on his hand, the barrel moves so he can shoot better and the fist punches!

However, when transforming him, keep in mind that his back has to ROTATE and SPIN AROUND to get it to connect to the back of his neck. This puts his liscense plate (SKIDS) right behind his head. That one step gave me trouble for a while but be patient. Another thing to be patient with is standing up. So far that I've seen, there are two ways to go about...Read more

To be honest, I'm a little bit shocked at all the reviews of people that can't transform Skids even with instructions. Yes, I needed instructions my first couple times (I'm in college, FYI, not 10 years old), but after that I got it down pretty well.

I will say that the clips to secure everything in the right position for car mode are less than stellar... to put it nicely. It definitely takes some patience to get all the cracks sealed so it can roll without feet sticking out. That said, conceptually it is one of my favorite transformers: It has a unique transformation that really makes use of the space provided, and I like the compactness of the robotmode. I also like the little things like folding in the windows or his chest that make it feel that little bit more complex and intricate without actually being essential or anything.

Overall, I wish they'd design more transformers similar to Skids, so long as they actually clip everything into place properly...Read more
