He's the whiney transformer we all love to hate. We didn't get too much of him in the 1st transformers movie but hopefully he'll play a bigger role in Revenge of the Fallen. For kids: This is one slick jet. When transformed it really looks like an F-22 Raptor and it has a cool paint job. It looks a bit like camouflage but is really Cybertronian in design. He has a unique transformation to robot form and features several spinning gears in his chest that move when his head is turned. His transformation is challenging without being overwhelming. I think kids will really enjoy this guy. For adults: Sorry to compare to the 1st movie's toy of this character but it's a comparison that needs to be made - whether you have that one or not you'll probably get the point. I liked that one but this one puts it to shame. In jet mode the old figure looked fine but the underside was clunky and horribly fat with arms (which were really just...Read more 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful: By = Durability: This review is from: Transformers Voyager Starscream (Toy) The first movie Voyager Starscream was a bit of a love-hate affair. There were some good things about it... but mostly it left a lot to be desired. Placed next to some of the better designs (e.g. Ironhide), it seemed... rushed.
Thankfully, Hasbro has responded to fan feedback and listened to the criticisms. ROTF Starscream is so much better that it leaves me wondering how the first one got out! The transformation is intricate but not overly complex, with a mech-alive gimmick that's actually quite nice. He's got hands this time, as opposed to just cannons for arms. The head sculpt is better, and overall he's not just cooler, but more movie accurate too. The best thing is probably the jet-mode: it's sooo much cleaner, with far less kibble underneath. Negatives? He's quite a lot more difficult to balance, having smaller feet, whilst remaining top-heavy. The arms don't pose very naturally, and sometimes can be left in an awkward look (but hey, he's got hands!)...Read more 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: = Durability: This review is from: Transformers Voyager Starscream (Toy) Like I said in my review of Deep Space Starscream, ROTF Starscream seems like the second step right before the final, "perfect" movie Starscream figure. He is, like ROTF Leader Prime, a big improvement: His jet mode LOOKS like an F-22 Raptor, and his robot mode is great with a fun transformation. The only thing with his F-22 mode is his hands tend to stick out in the back. You can angle the arms though to fix this for the most part. In my opinion, he has one of the most fun transformations of the ROTF line. The whole process just seems to flow. Take note, if you look at the product picture here on the website, those wings that stick out can fold down to look more movie accurate. In robot mode, I think the Cybertronian tattoos add alot to his look. Great articulation aside from his wrists: they can only move up and down, no rotation or side-to-side. His missiles are much less sensitive than the 2007 movie figure. The Mech-Alive spinning gears adds a nice touch. So my...Read more |
