Transformers Voyager - RECON IRONHIDE

Over all this version of Ironhide isn't all that different from previous releases of Voyager Movie Ironhide, it's more or less the same transformation but he's got different weapons and a different paint job. The paint looks like your little brother had at it with a silver sharpie. I guess it's supposed to be lightning, but it's just some random silver squiggles. I like the weapons though and the cannons on the last voyager just looked ridiculous on the underside of the truck. These look a little out of place too, but not nearly so bad... though having 2 giant knives clipped to your roll bar is kinda stupid, but there's no where else to put them...

When transforming into 'bot mode, be mindful of the post that needs to click into the hole in the middle of his torso. Mine feels like the plastic around the whole is going to snap off at any moment. It hasn't yet, but I fear for it.

The plot: I am a transformers fan since 1986, and for this Christmas I decided to buy another of the movie's robots, so I was looking for everything in stock until I found this Recon Ironhide.

The item: I must confess that I hate the first version of Ironhide (first movie), the colors and shapes were very poor. When I found this version (Recon) I feel it was just what I expected from Hasbro to do with this Autobot's General. However, when I opened the box I had two experiences: 1-The truck mode: which is so good, the painting, shape and size are almost perfect, I really love this mode. 2-The Robot mode: in this mode I don't like so much as I expected, because some parts don't look good enough, especially the chest and neck which looks a little weird, however others parts looks good enough, and the size is big enough. First off if you look at all the Ironhide movie version that have been done I totally think 100% that this is the best version of them all!The paint job is the coolest with the lightning bolt effect.He also comes with sweet accesories that are only found on this version.The transformation level is advanced meaning if you have plenty of experience with transformers there is minor difficulty.If you are a parent buying for a child of 5-6 or younger you would probably have to provide some help with the process.Like I said though on other reviews just have some patience and you will be fine.Some of the features include the bumper converting to a missile cannon with launching missile.Two extra cannons of which one is a rifle with a blade attachment for some extra punch.All these extras attach to Ironhide in vechicle mode for easy storage as well.Overall Ironhide is a high quality,well-made,10 out of 10 figure any transformer fan will treasure.I highly recommend Recon Ironhide to all...Read more
